I enjoyed this new author's book! It was a beautifully tailored glimpse into two different cultures. I felt transported back to parts of Germany I've visited and loved re-living travel experiences through the story. While I'm not personally familiar with life in the armed services, the descriptions rang true to me and I suspect we should all have a better understanding of what we're asking of our service men, women, and their families. It gave me new perspective. The story was believable and I appreciate that it didn't leave me wondering what happened to the charactures. A beautiful well written story. I can honestly say the story line was very "real" in that I believe this could happen to anyone and the way the story ended was a "perfect balance". Carmen stayed true to who she was, but at the same time she was still "human".....don't wont to give the story away, so get this. You won't be disappointed!
This was a well written story & I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great story line & character development. Good flow & I didn't have to backtrack to put characters in their proper place. Very realistic & touching. I would never believe that this was a first time author. Looking forward to Melissa's future endeavors!
Highly recommend this novel. Very interesting plot and story line. Item arrived also in excellent condition and on time.
This was a GREAT book! I couldn't put the book down. I had to sit there and read it all in one day. I was taken right back to Darmstadt while reading! I fell in love with all the characters. It's not often that you read a book that ends with such dignity. It was a nice surprise and made the book that much better! If you want a trip down memory lane in Darmstadt this is the book to read! )
The book is well written.and I can see where something of this nature could happen. I can see how Melissa's own character helped to determine the characters in this book. The flow of the book is lively and it was hard to put it down once I started reading. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

This book was a worthwhile read. Although I do not normally read this genre, I bought this book because I know the author. It was pretty detailed and extremely well written. So many books written in the past few years are full of grammatical errors, and it drives me crazy! Anyway, I especially enjoyed the details of life in Germany and on a military base. Having been a Navy brat myself, I could really relate to it; it was fun to read of what that life is like now, although I'm sure a lot of it has changed. ! I look forward to what she may write in the future. Great job, Melissa
I loved this book! I really felt that I was magically transported to Germany while reading this book. I love the way the author depicts Carmen's love of her family above all else, and their lives in Germany living in a military community as a civilian. It's a wonderful story, told with dignity. A definite must read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more from Melissa Miles.
